Today on The Marketing Podcast, Brendan Quigley and Heather Watson are looking at some new marketing partnerships that use tech in creative ways.
YouTube is giving people a better way for people to engage with videos. Through in-app sharing users can comment and engage with each other. This is giving brands greater insight through more meaningful conversations and gets away from conversation hijacking.
Domino’s Pizza and Slack have partnered up. A new Slackbot allows users to order and pull together pizza orders through Domino’s. Building on Episode 11, this is a great example of how Bots can work and highlights how Domino’s has a long history of leveraging technology to create better customer experiences.
Crowdsourced navigation app Waze has partnered with Allstate to bring roadside assistance services to Waze users. Wazers can get help with flats and other common breakdown issues with the tap of a button. Using the GPS the tow truck can locate users easily and also launch a call to friends and family. Heather and Brendan talk about how when good partnerships make sense for users and brands and how it seems like a no-brainer to bring them together.
In other partner news, the upcoming sequel Jumanji has paired up with Oculus to create an immersive scavenger hunt. Sony pictures is leveraging the 360 video to promote the release of Jumanji, putting users in scenes from the movie in a fun interactive game that can be played on Oculus and Facebook. Not everybody has big movie studio dollars behind them but Heather and Brendan talk about how businesses can use 360 technology affordably.
